How to choose the right car seat
Discover the simple guide to choosing the right car seat for your child.
Choosing the right car seat for your child is one of the most important decisions you can make for their safety. With the i-Size regulation (R129), the process is easier and safer, as it’s based on your child’s height instead of weight, making it simpler to know which seat is right for them. Here’s a quick guide to help you choose the most suitable seat according to your child’s age and height.
Some car seats are more specific, designed for a defined range of height and age. These models tend to be more ergonomic and offer a better fit within their intended usage range.
Other seats are more versatile, covering a wider usage interval—sometimes from birth until the child no longer needs a seat. These all-in-one options are designed to adapt as your child grows, offering convenience and long-term value.

Newborns to 15 months: Infant Car Seats
For newborns up to 15 months, car seats must be installed rear-facing. This type of seat offers extra protection for the baby’s head, neck, and spine.
Key Points:
- Seat sizes: 40-150 cm • 40-105 cm.
- Can be used from birth.
- Designed to be installed rear-facing.
- Multi-size seats (0-150 cm) usually have the option to switch to forward-facing once the child is over 15 months.

Key Points:
- Seat sizes: 40-150 cm • 76-150 cm.

4 to 12 Years: Booster Seats with Backrest
When your child is between 100 and 150 cm tall (around 4 to 12 years old), they’ll need a booster seat with a backrest. These seats allow the car’s seatbelt to be used, but ensure it’s properly positioned over the child’s shoulders and pelvis, rather than their neck or abdomen, which is crucial for safety.
- Seat sizes: 100-150 cm • 125-150 cm.
- Booster seats with backrest (100-150 cm) or booster cushions (125-150 cm).
- Specifically designed for older children, using the car’s seatbelt for security.
